I've not heard of anyone receiving a fine without also receiving points. If the temporary speed limit signpost is valid (correctly positioned using the correct design, size and colours) then it's just as enforceable as a permanent speed sign. Why would the authorities be lenient on drivers who break a temporary speed limit without so much as the drivers complaining or appealing?
Besides, what makes you so sure that you were "clocked" and that your recorded speed was 57mph? If your speedometer said 57mph then the chances are you were only doing 53 or 54mph and for that I doubt you'll receive a ticket.
